Welcome to the Imboden family blog! We’re glad you stopped by. Kick up your feet. Stay a while.
This is a blog about our life at home and our adoption journey.
My husband, Marc, and I live in a small town with our four kiddos: Nash (6), Hattie (5), Zoe (4) and Jet (2). We enjoy the smaller town atmosphere complete with a home-grown Fourth of July parade down Main St. and have been blessed with a supportive community of friends and family both near and far. We live on three acres of land and are fond of starting big projects that fall in line with our big dreams. We are currently converting our barn into a music studio and a 21-passenger shuttle bus into an RV!
Marc is an awesome storyteller. I wouldn’t mention it if it weren’t for how darned good he is at spinning a tale. It’s not what he does, it’s…part of who he is. He can captivate an audience with tales of his childhood or insights about God’s grace in relation to Elvis. I’m amazed at this ability that I, in no way, possess. He’s also a guitarist and songwriter who serves Christ by teaching about and leading worship locally and nationally. That is what God uses to put bread on our table. He recently finished two new projects. The new worship album is called “A Kiss Towards” and is available for listening at Reverb Nation and for online purchase at cdbaby.com and other online places. It is also available for purchase at our front door.
The second project is a kids’ album, “Wooden Spoon”. It will be available very, very soon. Marc felt compelled to make a kids’ CD last year, but didn’t know why at the time. Now, we are happy to announce that all of the proceeds from the kids’ CD will go to funding adoptions through Reece’s Rainbow! Marc loves making our kids laugh so hard that they beg him to stop, and he has a good sense of style. And he’s a really faithful and genuine guy. And I love him, so there.
I am a stay-at-home-mom who is not a good storyteller. However, I am a very good explainer and I love teaching my kids about anything they want to learn. I have a BS in Ecology and worked previously as a bilingual tutor in the public schools. I speak Spanish and some Portuguese and would learn ten languages, given the time. I was so excited to have to learn a bit of Russian while traveling to Ukraine to adopt Zoe! I’m slowly working toward my court interpreter’s license. Very slowly. I love to run, garden and rip wallpaper off of walls when my husband is out giggin’. It’s true. Sometimes I go with him and play percussion. I think he prefers the latter.
I greatly enjoy doing messy art projects and making all kinds of things from scratch. I have way more clothes in my closet that are dedicated to having fun (getting messy) than to going out of the house and if I own any eye shadow these days, I don’t know where it would be. I have the opportunity to take the kids on many adventures to the park, zoo and Children’s Museum (Indy has the largest Children’s Museum in the country!) and celebrate with them daily!
Marc proposed to me on the Appalachain Trail back in…some year…and we were married during our outdoor, three-day weddingfest 10 years ago. We had a 1940′s-style wedding and it was too much fun!
Our son, Nash, is an incredible builder. He has recently drawn the blueprints for an underground house and is digging almost daily. He asked for a kid-sized auger for Christmas. He’s serious. And curious. And smart. And funny. And helpful. And pure.
Hattie, our sunshine, is always ready to share and compliment. She makes people smile wherever she goes and has the darnedest way of saying things. She’s hilarious. And contagious. And joyous. And hospitable. Never without a tiara.
Zoe is our newest addition and third in birth order and she is a worker. She prefers to live life on her feet rather than sitting down and is always ready to lend a hand. She is kind-hearted. Social. And silly. Adventurous. And her laugh is infectious! We snagged her from Lugansk, Ukraine in December of 2010. To read Zoe’s Story, click here.
Jet, our babe, is a mellow, peaceful soul. He has no pressure on him and so goes about life with ease. He is delighted easily. He is unemotionally determined – no fits but won’t quit! Steadfast. Loving. And really cute. His superpower? Heart-melting.
